Keynote: Thinking about Futures, Now

The future is often being thought of as being hidden behind veils of uncertainty, or a reality that we must eventually accept. But is the only value of future? How should we think about the future, and how does the future help us make decisions now?

This talk will examine future at the intersection of speculative design, storytelling, and system thinking. Each discipline has a unique approach to the future, and reveals to us a truth of what it will be.

The future has always been a political space, in order for leaders to navigate the volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous landscape of today and tomorrow, we must increase our future literacy, so that we gain the urgent optimism needed to shape the future for the better.

What makes a great product leader?

Developing STRONG Product People, a Leadership Session.

Let's talk about developing product managers—and not just any product managers, but strong product managers.

We all know that product management is a super hard business, and we expect a lot from our product people. We want them to be good at understanding and finding solutions for challenging customer and business problems. We want them to be able to create plans to come up with an actual product. We want them to build products working with a cross-functional team, and we want them to optimize these products based on customer feedback they're (hopefully) listening to. And in most companies, we want them to do all this and more in an agile way.

For more than eight years, Petra has been coaching product teams and helping PMs become better at what they do. And over the years, she has discovered some patterns of what can help PMs on their self-progression journey.

In a lightning talk, Petra will share the five main ingredients to help Product Leaders up their people development game, and she will facilitate a group discussion afterwards.

Feel free to bring your challenges from managing product folks, and together we can help you gain more clarity as a group.
